Introduction
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is a famous Indian politician in West Bengal. He is a member of the Indian National Congress. He started his journey in politics in 1996, 2022 he played different roles in Congress. He is the first person who secured a strong position in Congress in different municipalities in Murshidabad. Since 1999, he has continuously won Berhampur Lok sabha. During PM Manmohan Singh’s tenure, he was in the union ministry as state minister of Railways. Adhir Ranjan was born on 2 April 1956. His father was Niranjan and his mother was Saroja Bala Chowdhury. He was born in Berhampore, Murshidabad, West Bengal. He studied at the I.C. institute in Berhampore. In September 1987 he married April Chowdhury. The couple was blessed with a daughter Shreyanshi, who died in October 2006. In April 2019, his first wife also died, and later he married Atashi C Chowdhury.

Career
- In 1991, during Rajiv Gandhi’s premiership, he joined Congress. He contested for West Bengal Legislative Assembly. However, during that time, he was put in prison by the Communist party of India. In 1996, elected from the same assembly and won the election by 76,852.
- In the year 1999, he also won the Indian General election from Berhampore.
- During 1999-2000, he worked as a member of a different committee’s I.e. information Technology, the Railway Convention Committee,e and the Committee of the ministry of external Affairs.
- Under his leadership, the Congress party won 23 Zilla Parishad seats, 13 panchayat samitis, and 104 village councils in Murshidabad
- In 2012, he also worked in the Union ministry as a state of Railways.
- In 2014, he also became president of the West Bengal Pradesh congress.
- In 2019, he was appointed as chairman of the 17th Lok Sabha committee on public accounts which is responsible for the procedure and conducting business in Lok Sabha.
- He is also president of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee in 2020 after the death of somen Mitra.

- There are different types of controversies related to Adhir Ranjan. He was mainly accused of a Ponzi scheme named Saradha Scam. Sarah’s group is a collective group of 200 different companies that were launched in the 2000s by businessman Sudipto sen. In just a few times, it became a popular scheme and raised 2500 crore and promised high returns. There are many high-profile people included. On the 31st death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi when he was giving a speech in Murshidabad District, his tweet phrase ” when a big tree falls, the ground shakes. This post shocked everyone. It evoked memories of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. This tweet was deleted immediately but still retweeted in a few seconds.
